Mission of the JV/Freshmen Program:

This program is geared to augment the varsity programs. Player development is the primary goal of these programs. Athletes should be given a chance to play and improve their skills. While Seneca Valley does not expect to see equal playing time, everyone should have an opportunity to compete. Close communication between the varsity head coach and the JV coach is important and expected. Coaches should be using similar principles and strategies so that the transition from the JV to varsity is seamless.

JV Playday Saturday, April 25th

April 25th:  The JV Shadyside Academy game that was postponed has evolved into a four way play-day and is scheduled for this coming Saturday, April 25th at SSA.  SSA will have two teams.  We will also play PCC.

The games will start at 10:00 and conclude around 2:00.  They will be played on the SSA Stadium and the field just down the hill from the Senior Campus.

Given that it is a Saturday, and not too far away, the expectation is that the families will provide transportation.

Freshmen Dominate NA

April 23rd:  The freshman out scored N.A. by 11 goals. The time of possession for the Freshman Raiders was determined by winning an amazing amount of ground balls – over 60 ground balls were won by the entire Seneca team. There were many shots of goals and many scores by several of the mid fielders and attackmen. The defense again proved to be difficult to score against only allowing one score the entire game. The defense had many clears setting up the mid fielders for offensive time of possession.

Freshmen Topple Franklin Regional

April 21st:  The Raiders offense scored early in the first quarter to take the lead and never lost the lead scoring three more times before the end of the game. The defense played excellent holding Franklin to no scores the first quarter and made the crease very difficult for Franklin to get shots on goal.  Great teamwork was shown by excellent execution of clears, passes, shots on goals, checks, ground balls, and saves from the Seneca Valley Raiders Freshman team.

NA Falls to Freshmen in Overtime

March 29th:  Kylan Hill took the ball and drove hard from the top of the crease.  Kylan let a ripping pass to cutting Spencer Sonson hitting his stick and Kylan’s pass found the back of the NA net in overtime to win the game for the Raiders.  The Raiders never gave up and continued to fight and hold the NA team to win their first game of the season. A true Seneca Valley team effort and a determination to win propelled the Raiders to their first win against their local rival under head coach Ty Schott’s leadership. The defense held tight with Jack Succop leading the defense with 9 saves as goalie and registering the first shut out of the season.
